Astral Projections

Astral Projections is a living installation and a performance that is situated somewhere in between dream and fiction. It is an artistic collaboration between Mikko Niemistö, Sanna Blennow, Teo Lanerva, Olli Lautiola and Justus Kantakoski.
The work is inspired by experiences that happen at the outskirts of everyday physical realities, when the material body is sleeping or consuming entertainment. In the gallery space, different dream-bodies and their incarnations communicate together, creating a surreal ritual. The installation-performance merges documented dreams, mysticism and athmospheres from digital entertainment.
The performance-installation was held at Forum Box Gallery, Helsinki 13th - 17th March 2020 before it had to be shut down due to the Covid 19 pandemic. The project was presented again at Moving in November -festival, Helsinki 2021 along with Mikko Niemistö’s solo work Odd Meters.
